      <image:title>Our Vision - Our Vision</image:title>
<image:caption>For all those who everyday are faced with challenges big and small, whose love and resilience knows no boundaries, whose courage each morning is never less than the day before, we are here to support you. For those who cannot find the time for self-care, unable to pause for thought or nourish yourself in the most primary of ways, we can help. Our vision is simple: we see a world where every parent or carer of a child with special needs has the tools they need to practice self-care on a daily basis. In so doing, they will be stronger and best able to face whatever challenges come their way on any given day.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Team - Simon Fraser - Chairman Board of Trustees</image:title>
<image:caption>My background is mainly in theatre and music as a performer and composer. Using drama as a basis, I have led workshops with businesses, looking at building confidence, presentation skills and team dynamics. I also have experience of working with children with special needs, including within the Health Service. I have also had previous involvement in the charitable sector, raising funds for a young people’s theatre in North London and other projects. This brought me into contact with numerous grant-giving organisations and gave me a greater understanding of how charities operate and approach their philanthropy. Who Cares UK has been set up to address a significant and often overlooked need. My hope is that, as a trustee, I can help Who Cares UK develop to be in a position to give comprehensive support to the many parents and carers who so evidently would benefit from our assistance.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I specialise in tutoring children from the age of 5 to 16 who find themselves falling behind at school where the system may not be able to cope with their particular set of circumstances, whether it be physical, developmental or social. I got involved with this sector of education as my own two children were at opposite ends of the educational spectrum with my daughter suffering from Dyslexia and struggling to my Son who was a high achiever but very often bored at school. I met my husband when we were both involved in musical Theatre production for Young Variety Club of Great Britain and took a particular interest in our development of Children’s care homes and Hospital Special Care Baby units. In my younger days I was a keen and proficient Ice Dancer and in later life a keep fit instructor. I am a keen gym goer and particularly enjoy dancing.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The pressures of caring can take a toll on carers’ physical and mental health. The 2011 Census shows that in England and Wales alone, almost 390,000 carers report being in bad health. Carers Week research from 2018 found that 6 out of 10 people (61%) said their physical health has worsened as a result of caring, while 7 out of 10 (72%) said they have experienced mental ill health. This information was echoed by the 2019 GP Patient Survey51 which found that carers were more likely to report having health problems compared with the general public, as was also found in the 2018 survey. Carers are more likely to report having a long term condition, disability or illness – 63% of carers compared to 51% of non-carers. In addition 63% of carers reported that their condition led to trouble with day to day activity compared to 58% of non- carers. This difference was even higher for carers who care for more than 50 hours a week, 71% of whom reported having a long term condition, disability or illness.
